GOP Group Cancels Straw Poll After Ron Paul Supporters Pour In

Scores of Ron Paul supporters showed up to the San Francisco Republican Alliance dinner, where they were treated to an hour and a half of speeches for Fred Thompson. When Ron Paul supporters asked to speak, they were told that time had run out and they held a raffle. After the raffle, the organizers announced that the rest of the program had been cancelled.

Thanks to Dr. Michael Edelstein for this report.

Nice to see the story get picked up:

I love the Thompson sign on the wall. Certainly a clue as to what was planned, and what didn't quite go down as expected.

In the future use the sleath approach

with these private type straw polls. Leave the signs outside and let them think your one of them.

Whatever

The moderator of the Republican group said she cancelled the straw poll because she didn't know the people that showed up. This person is trying to manipulate the outcome. She is a criminal, the initial charge is FRAUD!

SF Alliance Advertised that the Straw Poll would be NEWS!

Here's a link to a PDF of the "announcment flyer" directly from the SF Republican Alliance.

Note that it states (in Bold Text) that the "Results from guests voting for favorite presidential candidates in only local straw poll will be publicized"

Then there is also a rather weird statement in the top section of the announcement: "Instead, local Republicans like you brave enough to remain, vote or volunteer as Republicans deserve admiration." [emphasis added]

Then it even blatantly suggests people to bring friends: "Or Bring your friends to make it YOUR PARTY." [emphasis added]

Which to me, makes it sound like she was openly inviting Ron Paul supporters to "bring your friends" and "make it YOUR party" -- well looks like she got exactly what she was asking for right? And isn't that what we're all working so hard to do... make the Republican Party OUR Party [again].

And here is the Google Cached page of the Alameda GOP calendar where it was listed as an event and where I fetched the link to the PDF from.

I

I will ask...

I am writing to Dr E now about this. This is what he sent back to me:

When Ron is Elected

Perhaps he can make some much needed changes in the management of the Republican party. A lot of these executives seem like liars and thieves to me. Defending yourself with vigor is okay, ambition is okay too, but ruthless ambition is evil.

Wow, that is kind of a big

Wow, that is kind of a big deal. I love how it's all on tape for everyone to see how scared the Republican party seems to be of actually including a diverse group of people among them.

There's somethin' happenin' here...

The Patriots and Loyalists

The Patriots and Loyalists clash! The emotions are palpable! Great video! Please show this to the Tories in the MSM (not that they'll broadcast it, but at least they won't be able to deny having seen it)!

PRINT THIS ARTICLE....& use it for canvassing

This is extremely disconcerting to hear about. Now, the GOP cannot even control the outcome of their own Straw Polls, due to the high voter turnout of supporters they clearly do not want.

First, the Media & the GOP attempted to minimize the Internet supporters for Ron Paul as "spammers", thanks to operatives like Frank Luntz for FoxNews, inferring that there weren't as many REAL LIVE PEOPLE behind all the polling data they were conducting, using the Media to support their nefarious deeds & to manipulate the minds of the masses, but to their shock, they witnessed huge volumes of thousands of emails, all rightly accusing them of unfairness.

The GOP & the people behind them, including the Puppet Media, have one MAIN FEAR---that numbers of supporters are GROWING for Dr. Ron Paul. They have never been in this situation before, but they are fearful that THEIR very own poll results are not reliable anymore....and, if they have been "playing with these results", we daresay, they are even MORE scared than they appear to be, for they really know (we don't, the public doesn't) just exactly where the candidates really rank.

....SO...

We recommend that this short article be copied & pasted to a word processor, and xeroxed to hand-out with all the Slim-Jim's to ALL people, as proof of the smearing, slanting, manipulative tactics that the Media and the GOP are doing. Stamping on post-its is a good idea. Stamping "verify it yourself", or "Go to www.ronpaulforpresident2008.com", or "Google him to verify this"....etc. etc. etc.

Our mission is to encourage people NOT to rely on just the TV, but to verify what they hear on the Internet, for I fear if Ron Paul is not elected, then, we fear so much that we cannot print what nefarious deeds our government might do then...

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.

WE SHOULD BE LETTER WRITING IN EVERY STATE.....

WE SHOULD BE CANVASSING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE....to all BIG Malls or Big Events on all weekends, door to door in the evenings to reach as many people as possible and using the State Lists. Use our 5 point "Break the Ice" yes or no questions for openers with strangers...or whatever works for you.

WE NEED TO BEGIN A MASSIVE "Letters to the Editor"
WRITING CAMPAIGN.....to all our major local city newspapers.....

Any other ideas?? GOOD LUCK!!

And they wonder why nobody trusts them anymore

Let them keep shooting themselves in the foot like this. They are their own worst enemy and they keep exposing themselves for the frauds that they have become. Everytime they do it, the word goes around, people start to think and Ron Paul gains support. I love it.

That's weird...

What did they actually say?

Cancelled because they didn't get the results they wanted.

Yet another demonstration of the corrupt political agents representing Republicans intent on thwarting the peoples' will by thrusting loyalists like Rudy, Mitt and Fred down our throats. This kind of behaviour should be criminal.

some photos of the event

Here are some lousy photos I managed to take with my phone.

Video of the event...

Not impressed

First of all, a bunch of strangers (...have any of them been attending these events before? No...) carrying signs barge in and loudly disrupt this "private party" (gotta see this from their point of view also) and they expect for everything to be fine? Jeez, guys. Respect must start on our side. If the clowns who are supposedly supporting my candidate act like this everywhere they go, I can certainly understand why some people are starting to think we're a bunch of idiots. Ron Paul wouldn't start yelling like a spoiled child. Show some manners, for crying out loud.

Screw Manners

Frankly at this point I'm sick and tired of being nice and polite. We've been nice for too long and we're getting run roughshod by the MSM and the ReThugs who are in control. Time to kick some AZZ! Give them hell!

Loudly Disrupt????????????

We paid a fee to enter this "Private Party" and we were polite and peaceful. It was at the end of the event that we were told that there would be no straw poll because there were so many Ron Paul supporters there. It was at the end of the event that there was some shouting but it never got out of hand.

OK

Because based on the video only, it looked like our people were getting out of control and going off on the speaker. Even though they may spit on us, we have to be better than them.

It sure seems

It sure seems that the Republican Party says they want to attract more voters, especially young people, but as soon as a candidate appears that is actually getting people REGISTERED Republican, they shun him, and the new members.

I don't think the GOP is in it to win it.

If they were, they'd be paying attention to what works, instead of just paying lip service.

Jeremiah Galli

Don't generalize this...

It is certainly true in some local GOP groups run by brazen supporters of other candidates.

But do NOT generalize this to the entire party. I have been to several GOP events recently (just got home from one tonight); and not only are they tolerant and welcoming of new members (Yes, Virginia even Ron Paul supporters), but most of them don;t really have a "dog in this fight" or at least not yet (though they DO seem to have a distaste for the purported "frontrunners"), and many seem genuinely interested in Ron Paul as a potential candidate.

Sure they may be "dismissive" of his chances, but they have a measure of respect for both him, AND for the strength of our grassroots (when and to the extent that they have become aware of us). We haven't yet "won them over" locally, but they are hedging their bets and will probably "join the bandwagon" should we actually begin winning in the primaries and caucuses (and expect a good number of them will actually "throw in with us" in opposition to a Giuliani or Romney candidacy if we gain the upperhand or even draw "level" with them.)

And I for one will welcome them aboard (with perhaps only a mild chastisement of "what took you so long?")

So while YMMV with your local GOP or specific people within the local GOP ranks, don't be so quick to dismiss or denigrate the entire party. We need them in the same way that THEY need us -- to "retake" the party away from the neocon influence and "remake" the party back into what it once was (and still "pretends" to be).

Hear, hear!

You tell 'em!

Amazing

and not in a good way(well, for RP...it is...he has tons of support).
What is odd, to bring up something a little different, if I may... when Ross Perot ran ...he was on tv constantly...tons of news on him(internet was not really happening, and all the current ways to find blogs/news, etc)..he seemed to own the major networks, lol.
Ron Paul is even more popular, yet..not a peep(hardly) out of mainstream media about anything, unless it's negative(most of the time).
Stuff like this needs some Yahoo/USAToday/etc... spotlights in their politics sections. I would like to see this on network news, exposing some of these happenings...but... as we all know.. it most likely won't happen, which is a shame, really.

take care/not offense.

Just remember....

In that time since Perot ran, some laws have been stripped which put limits on the media. Now, it's perfectly legal to own as many media outlets as you want to. Example - News, Corp. owns Fox News & the rest of the Fox Network, 20th Century Fox films, Clear Channel (that's about 90% of all billboards you see and 90% of all radio stations you listen to), part of DirecTV, the New York Post, the Wall Street Journal, and MySpace, amongst other media outlets.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...

There was much more competition between media outlets in Perot's time:

And here's some info on the Telecommunications Act of 1996:

The statement made by PAH_III helps explain the MSM we face now

The root of our modern problem with media-opolies stems from the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Is there NO place free from excessive government intervention? (That's a rhetorical question, I hope you know.)

The Revolution is catching FIRE!

ROFL... the dead-enders are scared

90 minutes of speeches lobbying people to vote for a corpse is ineffective (duh), and the RPR is sweeping the nation (duh). What to do, what to do....

Folks, if you aren't attending your local GOP meetings, you're not in the game yet. It's time to activate the party **FOR** Ron Paul.

Not Attending GOP Meetings - Not In The Game?

Thanks for saying that ProspectorSam, because you are 100% correct. And I'll take it one step further, If you haven't knocked on 100 of your neighbors doors yet, with voter registrations forms and and a good flier, your only "partially" in the game. Really want to win? Then Pony-up troops. That's only 3 people per day for the next month. The Bay Area Ron Paul supporters who were at the GOP event tonight are the same people who are going door-to-door, everyday to win this election. The same people who developed our new National Canvassing Resource Website. Need some help learning how to do it? No problem! Get to the new website, watch the videos, download the scripts, sign-up, get started tomorrow, and start posting-up your daily tallies. They will be added to our real-time National Tally Meter: www.ronpaulreveres.com

Press releases will begin going out tomorrow. But you heard it here First!

typo

i don't know if you're the webmaster of ronpualreveres.com or not, but there is a typo in the text on the video on the front page, it says "the primaries are comiung!"

The primaries are coming! The primaries are coming!

GREAT video! THANKS! You've inspired me to finally get out there and conquer my fear of canvassing.

I agree.

I speak to people in stores, neighbors, friends, relatives, even car salespeople( got a car recently... and we spoke about the primaries, and I mentioned Ron Paul), bookstore owners that I know, etc...tons of people.
Most don't say much, either way, they just listen, but it's better than not trying at all.
I have also left home made RP stuff at the local college lounge, drive around with RP stuff written on back of car window, RP signs are out...you name it.
Take care/not offense.

Here's my idea

I bought a custom stamper to say "Maybe It's Time to Come Home. Bring the Boys Back. www.ronpaul2008.com. Then I stamped post it notes, and am leaving the post it notes above urinals, in stores, anywhere. People are naturally drawn to a post it note in an unusual location, and it's not littering, since they can just take it and keep it or take it down.

I suggest that others do something like this.
