Continuing the Revolution
I have often written about the need to continue the revolution no matter what happens in this election.
If you want to have a party that respects the Constitution, a country that shows fiscal restraint, a monetary policy of sound money, and a wiser foreign policy; a government that recognizes the fact that our sovereignty is being ripped from us and rejects the UN and all its crazy schemes to tax us and its attempts to run our schools, then you will keep your membership in the GOP, become good small 'r' republicans, and help it to become the party of preserving the republic once again.
12,634 *NEW* DONORS as of 4:22 PM ET proves that we are out there in numbers NO MATTER WHAT THE POLLS SAY or what people such as the guy in this article says.
This article proves to me that WE CAN DO IT.
There is nothing wrong with being a 'trojan horse for freedom', that seeks to bring the party back to its roots.. These folks are only scared because they are not real conservatives.
Please, I beg and hope and pray you will all stay registered GOP and help to take this country back.

The Republican Partty exists...
to win elections (likewise with the Democrats). Principles are irrelevant. Fantasyland dreams about a GOP receptive to Ron Paul's message because freedom is just so darn fun are simply childish wastes of time.
You want to make the Republican Party GET BACK TO its roots, you want them to pay attention to you, then cost them elections. Period. Nothing else will get their attention quicker. Nothing. Fancy arguments about liberty and freedom will fall on deaf ears when yelled at the top of your lungs to the behemoth that the Republican Party has become.
The Republican Party needs to hit rock bottom, and they wont do that until they see Hillary Clinton inaugurated and the Libertarian Party holding the margin of difference votes between winning and losing the Presidency. Think they'll pay attention to the message of liberty then? Yes, then, and only then. No sooner.
Those of you who hold onto the idea that this revolution can be achieved all clean and neat via the Republican Party remind me of the story of how old time zookeepers used to catch a monkey: place food on the other side of the cage, just within reach of the monkey. The monkey slips his hand through the cage, grasps the food in his fist...then cannot bring the food back through the cage because his fist will not fit through it. The monkey can get away from the zookeeper by just dropping the food, but, so stubborn the monkey is, he will not drop the food, and he is invariably caught.
So, the author of this post has it exactly wrong. You want to change the Republican Party, then walk away. Only then will they see the need for change.
Sensibility and sanity
You are clearly a man of common sense and possessed of a historical-consciousness. Jane, however, is a shrill, unabashed partisan shill who has shamelessly continued to incessantly promote this retrograde group of swines, serpents, and crooks to honest, decent lovers of liberty. Heed not her enticing words my fellows, for if Ron Paul does not get the nomination, consider this pathetic party as good as dead, and let us hope it goes to hell in a handbasket. The stakes have never been so high, and as Andrew Sullivan pointed out in his article, we are now at a most critical juncture, one of such magnitude that it has come down to this: we either take the White House in 2008 or the game is over, for we will have well passed the "point of no return," into despotism.
Dwayne...
After reading about half a dozen of Jane's posts, I came to the very obvious conclusion you pointed out. Jane strikes me as the kind of woman (I presume), that stays with a man who keeps cheating on her, hoping that her stupid loyalty will make him love her, (Insipid Shania Twain song playing in the background.)
I may be prepared to vote for a party that gets 1/2% of the vote every four years, but at least I am not a sap.
Amen!
Very poignant analogy.
Republican vs. Libertarian
Does Ron Paul sound like a Republican, or a Libertarian? He gives the same speach now as he gave in 1988. So which it? The key is the similar Presidential candidates in '96, '00, and '04. Does his speeches sound the most like George W. Bush and Bob Dole (last 2 Republican candidates), or does he sound like Michael Badnarik and Harry Browne (last 2 Libertarian candidates). I think you know the answer.
REPUBLICAN LIBERTY CAUCUS
Ron is a member of this Republican sub-group. Actually I think he sits on the executive committe - not sure. This group is the stealth freedom movement inside the belly of the Republican beast! Stay in the Republican Party as a member of the Liberty Caucus - thats the way to make a real difference. Unfortunately third parties don't work yet. Thanks.

Liberty is not free, It must be earned!
Ok
We need an analogous Freedom Caucus in the Democratic party too.
Lets play on both teams for the win.

PS anyone know why Jeff Flake supports mccain?
Start now
Hello fellow citizens,
Please don't wait for the primaries. Start now. They got the Patriot Act, the Real ID Act, and the Military Commissions Act passed. Now they slipped HR 1955 through the house. It is now in the Senate as S 1959 the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007." We call it the thought crimes act.
Please contact your senators today and let them know you oppose this and you are watching. In Texas it is Kay Bailey Hutchison (202)224-5922 and John Cornyn (202)224-2934.
Let's turn the police state back now while we are together, while we are united.
Liberty & prosperity at home and peace abroad,
the next steps
Organizations like Cato (www.cato.org) and Institute for Justice (www.ij.org) have been fighting the battle for liberty for a long time and have succeeded in changing the terms of the debate. Regardless of what happens with this election, real change will only come when we can shift public opinion. This means we must learn from organizations like Cato and IJ. As old fashioned as it sounds, I recommend some sort of conference after the election where we can invite these organizations and plan the future direction of the movement.
We Must Change the Rep. Party
In Tennessee, and probably in most states, you cannot run and win as a state rep. or higher unless you are a member of the republican party or a member of the democrat party.
Don't stay small R
Once this election is over, we must NOT stay with the Republicans another second, unless Ron wins. If he loses, we must all go in mass to the Libertarian Party. They were formed on the 70's when the Republicans rejected Barry Goldwater. Ron is a libertarian plain and simple. We can NEVER get the Republican party back to what it was without the pressure of the Libertarian Party forcing them to do what is right. Good bye Republicans, the libertarians are coming. Besides the Libertarian party is on a roll with election success like crazy. They are growing like crazy. And most importantly, the ones in office are like RON, they do what they say and they protect the Constitution. Plus, most importantly, they always get re-elected as they do such a great job once in. www.lp.org check it out!
There are liberty oriented Republicans...
...I'm apparently one of them ;-) I'm starting to feel like we are quite a minority... Ron Paul is a Republican and he is a Libertarian as well, he can be both.
Frankly, I'd like to see the party return to those roots, and to the tenor of Senator Goldwater ( I'm an Arizonan). I'm not too optimistic, but we'll see. The pressure of the Libertarian party on the GOP is a good thing, I hope it brings results. For me, for the time being, I'm going to stay in the GOP. Most importantly though, is that in whichever party we are affiliated with, we all continue to fight for the restoration of the principles that made this republic great.
The powers that be would love to see us divided over the semantic divisions and labels that have proven all too effective at diminishing our power as a people and blinding us to where our country is going.
GO GOP, GO Dems, GO Libertarians -all for Ron Paul ! sis-boom-baa! :-)
Another great organization is...
...Downsize DC (downsizedc.org). It's a great information and advocacy organization for shrinking the behemoth that is our government, and for restoring our liberty.
Words can't describe how elated I am at yesterdays success ! It is moving, to say the least. Mr. Lyman is correct, this is not about Ron Paul it is about something bigger, it's about the citizenry taking responsibility for their country again. I am committing myself to the movement beyond this election, to the restoration of our Republic and the principles responsible for it's greatness.
2008 is just the beginning.
Six Million Over Goal!
Okay, Ron has met and surpassed his fund raising goal by six million dollars. At this point, he needs to use some of that money to invewtigate issues about his competition and going poblic, lest the people vote with main stream media's hypnotic buzz. I am sure there is a skeleton or two in Huckagee's, Romney's and McCaln's closets.
Liberty Study O.K. / rebublican party ~ no way
I'm sorry but if Ron Paul is not the republican candidate this republican of 24 years will do everything in my power to get the republican party out of office and become a faint memory like the wigs. I will vote against every republican in every election for my remaining years. Except Ron Paul of course.
The Liberty Study founded by RP is a great idea. Keeping the Daily Paul and turning it into a movement site to get Ron Paul Republicans and Libertarians Elected.
Continuing the Revolution
I don't think the Republican Party can be taken back from the neo-con, big government, globalist, corporatist elites, any more than the Democrat Party can be taken back from the socialists. I suggest infiltrating both parties and electing our candidates in whichever party is most popular in a particular district or state. A third party like the Libertarian Party may be very useful for a presidential campaign when we are shut out by the major parties and their corporate sponsors. Who wants to vote for Rudy/Hucky/Romney or Hillary? I sure as hell don't.
Water the Roots
I think it would be appropriate to acknowledge and support a couple of sources that have served as the seed and bedrock of the philosophy of personal and economic freedom in this country for many years. Sources of information and support for Dr. Paul long before any of us knew his name. Voices in the wilderness that deserve our sincere thanks and now, our support as vehicles for the continued growth of the freedom movement.
The Ludwig von Mises Institute (http://www.mises.org/) is a rich source of reading on Austrian economics. Many of their resources are available in free PDF format. Von Mises, Hayek, Bastiat, Hazlitt, Rothbard and more. All the greats that have informed and nurtured Ron Paul's, and so many others, solid foundation of economic morality. It's right there for the taking. Dig in. It is a rich and beautiful philosophy, with a deep and influential history.
Lew Rockwell (http://www.lewrockwell.co...) is former congressional chief of staff to Ron Paul and founder and president of the Ludwig von Mises Institute. Lewrockwell.com chose to give up its non-profit status this year in order to continue to support Ron Paul's presidential campaign. There is a lot good, new reading there every day. Click over and have a look and maybe donate a few bucks.
The spirit of liberty has at last been aroused in this land and will not be easily extinguished. Let's all take a minute to acknowledge and support those who kept the flame alive through many dark, thankless decades and helped, in a very real way, to make today possible.
I doubt the r3volution will
I doubt the r3volution will stay in any particular party(though there'll certainly be a strong Libertarian/Constitution party lean). I think the bare bones from the nomination/election out will be a list Congressmen/Senators/etc. that hold true to the Constitution in its most literal form. No point in aligning ourselves with a party. And no, I don't think this is pessimistic thinking; because I expect it to happen regardless of who gets the Repub. nomination. It would be interesting to see in years to come just how influential an endorsement from the "R3volution" will become...
R3volution Leader
We must always have a r3volution leader and we must give and withhold endorsements from all candidates for office (may be also for all special interest groups - e.g. NRA bad, GOA good).
It would be good to have a r3volution leader at the national level (Ron Paul) and also have r3volution leaders at the state level (I nominate Rand Paul leader for KY).
echo allen. A place to go
echo allen. A place to go get information and communicate. Keep people informed of bills and other political people to rally behind.
"We need a site..."
...for Continuing the Revolution.
A place to stay conneced, to share wisdom and get trained, to pool talent and resources, to grow in numbers and strength, to become a political force to be reconed with; a position from which to take it all back.
Actually, we are building that site now. Keep an eye on LawfulGov.Org

I Believe
I believe the Revolution will continue should Ron Paul not win the Republican nomination.
First, it will continue with Ron Paul running 3rd party in the general election. Count on it. And by the summer, with all the publicity achieved through the primary race (he's still just a pimple on an elephant's butt, but in six months he'll be an entire cheek), he'll be a folk hero, and running right up the middle between a Hilary/Obama and Romney/Julie Annie he'll be a real threat to snag 40% and win it all.
Should THAT ultimately fall short, the Revolution could continue past November, but I doubt it'll be in the Republican Party. Perhaps in a newly organized independent party or an energized Libertarian Party. I know I couldn't stomach working within the Republican Party (I switched registration solely for the primary) any more than I could within the Democratic Party. Face it, Ron Paul's just as "home" in the DP as he is in the RP: he's not welcome in either.
Prague Spring
.
Right now most of us are caught up in the heady excitement of possibilities; that the money bomb - and other factors - will help catapult RP's campaign into the top position. We can taste victory, even though it is down the road. Millions have come together, inspired by RP's message of freedom. This is fantastic.
When Trevor Lyman was interviewed by Maria Hinohosa on the PBS Now show, she asked, 'But what if Ron Paul doesn't win.' And Lyman wisely replied, 'This isn't about Ron Paul.'
This is about millions of people who want their Republic restored to sanity, to principled government. If Ron Paul does not make it to the top, then someone else will. The cat is out of the bag; freedom is something few of us have talked about until Ron Paul came along to remind us. Now countless people are roused to activistm, and that is great! I don't think it is possible to go back to "business-as-usual" any more; we have shared victories - going back to Ames, Iowa and the Iowans for Tax Relief Forum triumph. We have all been through a lot together. The battle is joined: those who are for freedom and the Constitution vs. the Darkside. The seeds of reforming the Republic have been planted. How quickly they grow and prosper is proportionate to our commitment and maybe a few more miracles.
.
Continuing the Revolution
I admit i am tempted to quit if RP does not make it to the TOP. Been fighting this battle for many years, however, there is ONE thing we can start to do.
RP founded the LIBERTY STUDY COMMITTEE a few years ago. I first met RP at a small luncheon at UT Law School at Austin, TX. Only about 20 of us in attendance.
What a great educational meeting that was!
The point is this. NOW we KNOW can RAISE ALOT OF $MONEY for candidates ALL OVER THE USA as long as they AGREE with RP's message of LIBERTY and LIMITED GOVERNMENT. I believe we had almost 22 congressmen join the Liberty Study Committee. Dr Paul told us he would have to inform many of these elected officials how the economy works...or how a gun law is unconstitutional, or even if a HR (house resolution) was good or bad.. These elected officials are NO SMARTER than the rest of us, and sadly many of them are just stupid....they crave power. Many of them NEVER read the bills they vote on. How TRAGIC is that!
We need a site like DAILYPAUL for LIBERTY MINDED CANDIDATES to gravitate to. They get an evaluation and if we like them, we drop money bombs on them. If we don't like them, we can leave them be, or bomb their opponent to at least get the rotten egg out of office.
anyone like that idea?
The 'quit' word is not allowed. :-)
I hope you don't quit. Look how many people he's inspired to donate and vote first time, per this article? I just sent a screen shot to my man in NYC, he was thrilled to donate for the first time and to see his name on the ticker. He was on the phone and I waited and it went by fast so I'm suprised I got it.
Anyway, Dr. Paul is not a quitter. What if he'd quit after 2 or 3 years in the Congress? We would not even be where we are now.. We'd have the same old same old to vote for and this message would not have gotten out like it did.
Please do NOT quit!
