Ron Paul FOX 9/5/2007 Footage

Thank you http://joeplummer.com/

Dr. Paul did an amazing, excellent job. He keeps getting better and sharper with each debate. This was his best performance to date. Each time he picks up new supporters who cannot believe their ears - they are actually hearing some truth coming out of the TV for once! This time is certainly no exception. The loud cheers for Dr. Paul show clearly the broad popularity of his positions.

Obviously FOX is threatened by this and attempted to use every dirty trick in the book to belittle the message. It was nearly half an hour before Dr. Paul got his first question, after other candidates had already answered three. Furthermore, you can hear snickering every time Dr. Paul is asked a question, or begins to reply. It sounds like Giulianni to me. Why did FOX news encourage and permit that?

In spite of this, Ron Paul stole the night. This post from the RonPaulForums.com makes it clear:

Fox News did the following in order to try to hurt Ron Paul:

- Accompanied RP's talking with laughing in the background - wherever it was coming from it was loud and obvious and they let it go on...

- Moderators mocked him in some instances (i.e. Wallace asks if RP would act according to the will of foreign enemies, rather than politely asking for him to clarify his position).

- After it is first reported that Ron Paul is dominating the text message poll, they display the results of a test that measures the knee-jerk reactions of a random (?) selection of people, and try to legitimize it by using it as evidence that Huckabee "won" their argument, and RP "lost".

- Hannity refused to accept the legitimacy of the text message poll results all night long.

- RP had minimal airtime, most of which was reserved for The Annointed 3â„¢, although the second half wasn't as bad (probably by design, to get away with giving him nothing for the first half of the debate)

Despite all this, Ron Paul beat them all:

- Stayed patient throughout the debate, and despite having minimal time to speak, takes advantage of every moment with great answers.

- Recovers from Chris Wallace's direct accusation that RP would "follow the marching orders of Al Qaeda", counters that he would merely follow the Constitution, and still gets loud applause. (edit: and he lives up to his name, Dr. NO...)

- Hannity interviews him and asks a question based on factually inaccurate premise (mainly by omission of relevant facts) RP tells him plainly "your history is all screwed up", briefly goes into the late 90's saga when Clinton kicked out UN inspectors and proceeded with bombings, but realizes he is talking to an empty suit and gives his attention to Colmes, the more sane of the two Fox News employees. For the first time (that I've seen) an interviewee of Hannity properly deals with his ignorance and puts him in his place.

- Resoundingly wins the text message poll, scoring more than double the number of votes as his runner-up (Huckabee)...still, no credit is given

FOX News's performance was reprehensible. Let them know, politely, that you don't appreciate their behavior or coverage.

speakout@foxnews.com

Also, I suggest striking back against FOX. I have seen this site before - now I think it is time to put it into action:

http://foxattacks.com/

You will note on the right side of the screen that there is a list of local advertisers in your area that advertise on the local FOX affiliate, as well as their contact information. This makes it easy for you to call the office and let them know that you don't appreciate them advertising on FOX. There is a script to help you with the call.

There is no need to identify yourself as a Ron Paul supporter, and in fact, it would probably be more powerful if you didn't. Just let these local advertisers know that you don't appreciate them doing business with FOX.

Watch how disrespectful Hannity is to Dr. Paul. "I'll educate you..." he says.

My dentist - a company called Gentle Dental here in Boston is on that FoxAttacks.com list. They'll be getting a call from me today.

CNN Seeks Ron Paul-Huckabee Debate
Thursday, September 06, 2007 - FreeMarketNews.com

After the recent FoxTV-managed GOP debate fireworks in New Hampshire, CNN is actively seeking to set up an "immediate" further debate between Ron Paul (R-Tex) and former governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee (AR). Huckabee has already accepted, certain presidential campaign observers say. And these sources add that the Ron Paul’s campaign is close to accepting as well, if the head-to-head discussion is not treated as a “sound bite” and lasts longer than a few minutes. It is not clear who would moderate such an exchange.

Ron Paul and Huckabee had a sharp exchange of words over the Iraq war during the recent GOP debate, with Ron Paul insisting, as he has throughout his campaign, that the war was a failed policy and that the troops ought to be withdrawn. Huckabee retorted that for the “honor” of the United States, the war must continue. Huckabee’s campaign manager Chip Saltsman said of the exchange: "Governor Huckabee clearly had a break-out moment during his exchange with Congressman Ron Paul during [the] debate - which illuminated his leadership qualities, experience, dedication to principle, and vision for a unified America.”

Saltsman's opinion was echoed by some who seemed - following the debate - to give Huckabee the victory; however several GOP debate polls showed that Ron Paul won the overall debate handily, including Fox’s own cell-text poll. Ron Paul is a classical conservative in the Jeffersonian tradition and does not believe in aggressive military confrontations overseas without strong provocation. He hews to the minimalist tradition of government. His views have seen increasing mainstream acceptance during the nascent presidential campaign and his fund-raising continues to strengthen.

Close observers of the current campaign scene said that it is apparent that Huckabee is running out of money and was looking for a confrontation such as the one that developed in the hopes of raising his profile – and additional cash. These sources add that Huckabee has apparently adopted the strongly pro-war line of presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani in the hopes of being considered as a vice-presidential running mate for Giuliani. The mainstream press currently considers Giuliani to be the current Republican front-runner.

I think this would be bad..

I think this would be bad.. Paul should not debate such a minor candidate like Huckabee, it drags him down.

Buyer Beware from the Free Market News

I have a hard time trusting the Free Market News. In my experience, they'll publish just about anything to get the traffic and the attention.

If you recall, it was the Free Market News that last quarter said Ron Paul had raised $5 million, well before the quarter had closed. The quoted unnamed "sources close to the campaign." Do you remember what happened? They were WRONG, and it led to a big disappointment. Even though Dr. Paul raised over 2.5 million, it was a letdown thanks to the false hopes inspired by FMNN.

In the story quoted above, they quote "certain presidential campaign observers." Whatever, or whoever that means! I haven't been able to confirm this.

Just because it is on the internets, does not mean it is true. Be especially wary of the FMNN. Yes the free market is great, but you have to remember that in the free market it is buyer beware! No one is looking out for you but you. You've got to keep sharp.

Thanks for the tip, honorgod, but for the time being, I remain a skeptic.

better yet

I want Ron Paul vs. Fred Thompson. Let's see how Mr. TV conservative do without a script.

It is even less worth

It is even less worth it.
Fred is going nowhere. His hi numbers were just the reflection of dissapointment with top tier, but his no Ronald Reagan. His going down pretty fast. He'll drop very soon.

Great Day for Ron Paul

Let's not worry to much about FoxNews being fair and balanced. We all know their not. They are getting desperate. Resorting to attacks and and mockery.

I think this was a very significant day for Ron Paul and put his nomination with in reach.
* Ron Paul won the text vote. (An improvement from last time) And it wasn't even close.
* The vote was legit since you could only vote once
* Ron Paul was able to speak the truth
* FoxNews gave Paul much more air time than last time.
* Other Candidates had to address and recognize Ron Paul and a real candidate and threat. Huckabee already said the Paul was real competition on the Cobert Report.

Two other hidden blessings
**Huckabee did well (according to the polls) and is now a threat to the *Big Three*
**Fred Thompson is in the race now.

Both of which help dilute the shrinking pro-war vote of the shrinking republican party.

I am very pleased. A Ron Paul victory in the primaries is within reach!

Rudy's Rudeness

I noticed that about a half hour passed before Dr. Paul was asked to speak. The others had gone through several rounds by that time.

Also, Guiliani's chuckling over Dr. Paul has prompted me to dig my Rudy-2008 campaign contribution business-reply envelope out of the recycle bin and mail it back empty.

Better Yet!

Mail it back with a check made out for $0.02, and sheet of LEAD. It's business reply so they get charged for it all :P. They have to pay to cash the check so it costs them money - if they even bother. A great way to give them your two cents worth, and waste their money.

debate not on

I was so looking forward to the debate but it wasn't on in my area. I watched the Canadian channel and they had "Fahrenheit 9-ll on and it was the first time I saw it. Wow, I thought it was very good. I was so happy to see that you post the debate. To be honest I would really like to know just how many people got to see the debate but from what I have seen here Dr. Paul was wonderful as usual. I cannot get over how down right disrespectful they are to Dr. Paul. Dr. Paul held up like true champ under such horrible conditions.
My admiration for Dr. Paul just grows and grows I wish I was more like him, what a wonderful role model.

Two small observations

.
What Dr. Paul said was right and good, but I wish he would not flail his arms around. Some may find it real and charming, but I think he would profit by a debate coach. John Kennedy was a masterful speaker who would, occasionally, point for effect. These are public speaking basics.

There is a famous clip of Benito Mussolini, standing on a Rome balcony, looking smug and self-impressed, folding his arms in an arrogant way. That is what came to mind when the Fox video put a shot of Giuliani alongside Dr. Paul.

Also re: Giuliani. Some weeks before 911, Time magazine ran a cover story about him: "America's Worst Mayor."

Americas Worst Mayor?

I don't doubt that he is among the top of the bottom if you will, but I am unable to find any reference to that article. Any idea what issue that came out in?

People are smarter

My brother-n-law watched the debate with me. He is from Japan and hasn't been following any political campaign. He made a comment about Huckabee while Hannes and Combs was interviewing him.
He said, Huckabee sounded like a dictator because of the comment The American people should stand behind the president. He said, I thought the government was supposed to be for the people.
Oh wait.. he received his history and education in another country.
When will America wake up!

It's alright

It sounded like Romney and Giuliani laughing the whole time. The attacks everyone made against Ron's comments were immature and unbiased.. but it's alright. He won the debate and the people know it.

Faux News

Hi all,

fox news is nothing but a horse and pony show. That is why the Democrats will not do a debate on that network. Nothing but tabloid. The Republicans should do the same.

I'll make you this promise, because I support Kucinich and my husband supports Paul, if my candidate doesn't do well I will support Ron Paul in the primaries.

I couldn't believe I was up of the couch cheering for this man. I only do that for football games. I can't believe the truth came out last night on national TV. The networks do the same to Kucinich....but they have never disrespected him like they did Dr. Paul last night.

I called my Mom last night (who is a Paul supporter in NY) and she was disgusted with the laughing and snickering.

Good Luck you guys...I'm with you!!!

Here's my letter to Fox

You guys are hilarious! Fair and balanced my ass. I’ve never seen such blatant bias against Ron Paul. When this country gets turned around to a Republic once more, all of you will have to find a different line of work.

Sincerely, Gina Giardino

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can
change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

I just realized that one

I just realized that one more good thing happend last night.
Pro-war vote became dilluted even further by RP-Huck exchange.
Not only Fred get to the tier of warmongers, but also Huck aspired to get there and, I believe, he succeeded.
So, instead 3 major warmongers we've got 5.
Things are getting better.
And now Michigan has open primary, too.

Standing ground

Ron Paul did an axcellent job standing up to the soviets last night. He created quite a stir that was both fun and uneasy to watch.
We are dealing with the murderers of JFK and Abraham Linclon here. Not an easy gang to overcome. But it can be done. And it is being done. Slow but sure. Time takes time.
It is interesting to listen to Ron Pauls opponents. I have heard it said more than once in the past that people will eventually beg for their chains. They speak out against their own well being. Their own liberty is to be sacrificed on the alter of security (which definition?).
We are where we are. Liberty won't happen overnight. Keep on keeping on.
GO RON PAUL!!!

Tyrrany, like hell, is not easily conquered.

Need to learn about Lincoln

While I certainly agree that Dr. Paul did very well in the "debate", I don't think we are exactly "dealing with the murderers of JFK and Abraham Linclon here." I don't know who killed JFK (though it was certainly not any "lone assassin"), but I don't think it was the Ruling Elite ("Illuminati" or whatever you want to call them) that offed Lincoln.

Lincoln was not the hero/saint you've been led to believe. His assassin/s, like Brutus & friends, were trying to stop the morphing of a Republic into an Empire; unfortunately, like their counterparts in 44 BCE, they failed. It was Lincoln who created the Imperial Presidency (later perfected by FDR) that George W is now using. It was Lincoln who first "suspended" habeas corpus, jailed his critics without trial, and used military conscription to "defend freedom". And sacrificed more than a half-million Americans on the altar of his "honor".

To learn the truth, see "Lincoln Unmasked" and other articles and books by Thomas DiLorenzo, among others.

BTW, I am a native Californian whose ancestors all fought in the "northern" (i.e. federal) army in Lincoln's war; I didn't learn the truth about all this until my late 40s.

re: snickering...

Not sure what some of you militant "Paulestinians" are talking about. If that was Giuliani laughing derisively, then FOX didn't help him at all. They let him make a fool of himself. I'm not sure why some of are so uptight about the coverage. A food critic doesn't need to eat the entire meal to know if the restaurant and chef are any good. "We should take marching orders from our Constitution" is the sound bite the campaign is waiting for. That could not have been scripted any better.

I wish that I could get the ear of a Fox exec.......

It's so obvious that Fox does not want to see Rep. Paul get any traction. The more they dish on Ron, the deeper my resolve becomes in supporting him. I hope it keeps on backfiring on them, and more Americans wake up to this injustice, and ask themselves: Why are they doing this. Fox News, along with their croonies, is what's wrong with America. How about "Fair and Balanced" as a big lie for starters. It's disgusting how they favor the other candidates. If I could get the ear of a Fox News executive, I'd give him a few choice words.

Advice for Ron: Keep your cool, dude.........you've got truth on your side. The others are self destructing on their own....i.e. Rudy, Romney. Take the others out to deep water, and openly challenge the Federal Reserve and Income Taxation. See if they can swim with you out there!

Isn't it refreshing to see Ron become more of a lightning rod for all the moderators? He's getting mentioned more and more for his intractable stance on issues. Even though the moderators intent is paint Ron like a "quack", others, like myself, see real character for a change.

A real conservative uses the Constitution as his governing guidebook. Any deviation from such, is an exploit in liberalism. The other candidates can call themselves whatever they want, but they're not "conservatives".

I just love how Hannity and Limbaugh love to crow about how conservative they are. They use a definition that doesn't involve the US Constitution. I don't think either one of them has ever read the US Constitution and our Bill of Rights.

Forget the soundbites of following the footsteps of Reagan and other modern day politicians....drop names like: John Hancock, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and the rest on the original "beltway" gang.

Keeping Cool not always the best choice

While we wouldn't, and he wouldn't, like to see RP lose his cool frequently, I think it showed that he has some real fire and passion. "They" try to suggest that he is too old for the job. I kinda liked it for a change and I think the public did too.

You tell 'em Ron! Anyway needed to get the point across.

Dr. Paul on Dr. Phil

I've been thinking for some time that Dr. Phil should have Dr. Paul on his show to talk about what it's like to be bullied by powerful people, both in congress and on the debates, as he was last night. Dr. Paul consistently shows how to keep his own goals in mind and not be sidetracked.

I think I'll go visit Dr. Phil's website and suggest it.

Dr. Phil, himself, much as I'm sure he'd like to tell everyone what to do (who wouldn't?), always gets permission, first, much like our system of government is supposed to. I think it would be a good show.

Oprah endorsed Obama

Oprah endorsing Obama may have some bearing on the feasibility of this - for better or worse. Go for it.

Death before Dishonor

Mike Huckabee (who I actually "liked" before this debate) seemed to be referring to our military as the Samurai of Feudal Japan with his references to "death before dishonor" and "saving face." I was also reminded of the words of Spartan women when sending their husbands off to war, "Either return with your shield or on it." Is this what Huckabee is saying?! Have we become so egotistical and flippant with our men and women in uniform as to tell our own troops, "We care more about OUR honor than YOUR lives?!" If we are looking at military history, why not look at the Rule Book still taught in most military colleges and settings, the writings of Sun Tzu, "The Art of War":

"Invicibility is defense. Vincibility is attack. Defend and one has a surplus. Attack and one is insufficient."

"One who does not thoroughly know the harm from employing the military cannot thoroughly know the advantage from employing the military."

"There are roads one does not follow. There are armies one does not strike. There are cities one does not attack. There are grounds one does not contest. There are commands of the sovereign (president) one does not accept."

These writings are still taught at the War College, West Point, Annapolis and others, which is probably why so many generals have opposed Bush publicly. THEY KNOW BETTER! But obviously Fox and the other candidates need to do some additional reading. Sorry Ron, maybe another "recommended reading list" is needed for these militaristic morons.

On the "Huckabee Exchange"

The exchange involving Dr. Paul and Mr. Huckabee actually reveals volumes - especially that Huckabee is cut from the same cloth as G- (and all the others). To distill some of the comments:

Huckabee: We've got to keep status quo.
RP: The status quo is running off our eligible voting base.
Huckabee: We've got to keep our honor and stay loyal to the revamped platform, even if it means only garnering 10% of the voting public.

Huckabee showed us quite clearly that he and the other neo-cons do not believe that the people of the country have a right to determine our government's policies. What conceit: even if those all-knowing also-rans that were on-stage (or with Leno) were right that we've got to war with the middle east in the middle east, if 70% of the public say they don't agree, then it is the politicians' duty to stop these activities, no matter how dumb or unwashed they think the electorate is. C'est ca.

One thing is certain. My

One thing is certain.
My hero, Ron Paul is no sissy.
He can fight.

yes but...

emotion and passion are great but there is a fine line before one appears angry. There are times when that is appropriate, but I did feel a few times a calmer cooler approach would have been better - such as that chris wallace follow up setup on taking orders from AQ - he lost his cool a bit there.

But I think I also take away to some extent the confrontational approach was his strategy to get press notice, which certainly worked - its just a very fine line to tread with the voters.

On another front - wtf is Rudy's problem? Does he not realize his mic is open at all times? Will he snicker at a press conference with another world leader whom he thinks is his lesser or disagrees with? I mean grow up dude.

Ill put some more thoughts on my blog later today.

rant.st views on finance, politics and science

Staying Calm

We're not used to hearing Ron raise his voice. He needs to be loud and forceful without seeming like he's not calm and his voice not becoming too high pitched. But I am still proud of him standing up to Huckabee who looked like he was cowering.

Huckabee admitted we 'broke' it. And yes he's pulling all sorts of stunts, aided by the media, because he's got not much money left. I doubt he's ever had a house party that gleaned what Ron's first one did let alone the most recent one!

O'Reilly just mentioned Ron for the first time I ever heard him. He said, without dissing him, that everyone wants to stay the course in Iraq except for Ron Paul...but that he thinks some of those gov'ts are corrupt and what to do about it, while talking to Romney.

"emotion and passion are

"emotion and passion are great but there is a fine line before one appears angry. There are times when that is appropriate, but I did feel a few times a calmer cooler approach would have been better - such as that chris wallace follow up setup on taking orders from AQ - he lost his cool a bit there."

I disagree with you on this one. A calm approach may have appeared like political dodging. The comment was nothing more than a thinly veiled insult. I think the good doctor showed remarkable restraint in not walking over to Wallace and smacking him in the mouth. On the other hand I'm happy that the debate moderators and their paymasters are actually threatened enough by Paul to attack him. They are slowly realizing that he can't be ignored.

I was especially amused at Paul's response to the first (non) question of the night concerning Thompson joining the race. His response that it would help him by watering down the pro-war vote was an instant classic.

Like I said a month ago, once they stop attacking

Like I said a month ago, when they stop attacking the Ron Paul campaign, you know we lost.

Its really good that they have to attack, cheat, make excuses, snide remarks and all the rest. If they didn't, then we should be worried.

The Ron Paul campaign is on fire, and its just getting started.

yes but 2

Actually, I thought that showed that Ron Paul believed in what he said - he had passion.

Kind of like when Reagan said that he "paid for this microphone" basically won him the debate.

Rudy's rudeness

I think he knew that with Fox News he could and would get away with it.
JMR

They're playing right into our hands (evil chuckle)

I just hope there is enough time to expose all the candidates' true natures.

It's interesting, because none of that would have happened unless they were worried about Dr. Paul.

Huckabee admits We Broke Iraq

A revelation by Mike Huckabee whe he said "We Broke Iraq and We must Buy It"

No Mike, thats now what we have to do.

Huckabee is a Rudy (bully) wannabe

I'm starting to see a real pattern in that these candidates are looking to pick a fight so that they can be considered a "highlight" of the debate.
Of course, everyone remembers Rudy's attack on RP in So Carolina. (It backfired.) Last night, you had McCain make a weak attempt to sound superior by getting into semantics with Romney. Next, Huckabee comes up with the Pottery Barn analogy about Iraq. Hey, al Quaeda likes us to be in Iraq! From where are these neo-cons getting their marching orders?

One odd thing about Iraq and this election...

Is that Sam Brownback, Joe Biden, and I all agree on something. Iraq is three countries, not one. The only way to hold it together as one is a giant, Tito/Saddam/Ceausescu style dictatorship -- no matter what it's called. Big elections with lots of purple thumbs and people crying will NOT change this situation one bit.

Trying to treat Sunnistan, Shiastan, & Kurdistan as one country now that it IS broken merely continues the errors of European powers who wanted it to be one country so it would be easy to control. That's not gonna happen, and the sooner the UN faces that military/political reality, the better. The problem, as usual, is that we seem to be under the control of the UN's wishes, rather than what's best for the USA.
JMR
