Another day, another straw poll win for Ron Paul!
Last night I stayed up way too late banging out WHO songs on my Taylor T5. I downloaded the words to "Won't Be Fooled Again" or as I like to call it, the rEVOLution song...
Nevertheless I was up at dawn to make coffee and get ready to head over to the Park in Manchester where the Manchester GOP would hold a fundraiser and straw poll. It was a very crisp 46 degrees this morning so I was happy to have my new Ron Paul sweatshirt. We loaded up the pickup and headed over. There was to be music and fun and balloons for the kids.
As I recalled the words to the song I'd been playing the night before, it struck me how well they fit for a day like today.
We'll be fighting in the streets With our children at our feet
When I arrived, there were already many supporters standing on the corners, waving at cars that were honking their horns. There were older people, middle-aged people, young people, and people from all political stripes, and of course, plenty of kids having a great old time dancing and leaping around to the music.
And the party on the left Is now the party on the right
We had our 'instant booth' with the velcro'd signs up in no time and put out plenty of literature, stickers, and best of all, free balloons for every kid, thanks to Kate Marshall.
And as the rock band played on right up until 6 when they read the results of the poll, my only regret on this beautiful day is that they never did this song...
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Several people took photos -- will post when available!
Here are the results..
Official Count:
Ron Paul 114
Fred Thompson 17
Rudy Giuliani 16
Mike Huckabee 12
Mitt Romney 5
Tom Tancredo 3
John Cox 3
John McCain 2
Sam Brownback 1
I can always count on Lou to take some great photos.
Also, Liz C. and her son Alex did a booth across the street at an indoor health expo, first one! Good job Liz!

what I believe
These LOW KEY Straw polls are showing what the American people are truly feeling.. no t.v., no hype. Just the American people showing what truly is going on behind the scenes. The media tells us that Ron Paul is a second tier candidate. Stephonpolous tells us he won't win.. ( man how i would like to grab that pencil neck geek by the throat, RP won't win but its ok to support a treasonous liar like clinton.. what a fool). Anyway the establishment is running scared.. When Ron Paul takes over in January of 09' he could totally dismantel in a few weeks what took them 100 years to build. The best thing is that Ron Paul will take away all the power that has been given to the President threw executive orders and signing statements! No More will the president be able to become tictator in times of manufactured trouble! These type of Straw polls just show the true feelings of the American public and maybe finally we the people are starting to WAKE UP!
Incredible vote count!
Damn, if Ron had only 4 more votes he would have DOUBLE the number of all other candidates combined!
Pretty amazing.
Hmmm
If Hannity reported all these Ron Paul straw poll wins, he would accuse Paulites of re-voting over and over again.
Hah!
Funny you should mention this! When Linda approached the booth, she commented, "Look at all these spammers, will ya!?!"
Believe me, it was the busiest, friendliest, most fun spot in the whole park
Guliani moving up!
Wow, Guliani got 16 votes....he's moving up!
Jane, speaking of songs that fit. What about a redo with words changed to "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire from late 60s or so? Is anyone a writer/singer out there? Surprised that song hasn't come up in this campaign. Maybe too negative, don't know.....but fitting.

For the MSM
How about the Ostrich by Steppenwolf as a song, a little cynical but unfortunately prophetic for our friends in the main stream media.
You're free to speak your mind my friend
As long as you agree with me
Don't criticize the father land
Or those who shape your destiny
'Cause if you do
You'll lose your job your mind and all the friends you knew
We'll send out all our boys in blue
They'll find a way to silence you
But there's nothing you and I can do
You and I are only two
What's right and wrong is hard to say
Forget about it for today
We'll stick our heads into the sand
Just pretend that all is grand
Then hope that everything turns out ok
The Ostrich Fits the Non-Paul Voters!
Can any of them punch the card believing they _truly_want_ their selection to become president? The second stanza describes what voters for 'mainstream' candidates must be thinking when they pull the curtain behind them -- completely opposite of any Paul-backer.
