SEP 29/30 - NH Family Walk - Nationwide Rally / Paint the Town RON!!

1. New Hampshire Family Walk

Ron Paul and his family will be in Manchester, NH this weekend. He will be giving a speech on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9:30 am and then we will all go off Saturday and Sunday to distribute literature throughout New Hampshire.

The campaign is hoping to get 1,000 volunteers to knock on about 50,000 doors this weekend. This is a HUGE effort to reach out to New Hampshire voters because we all know that winning New Hampshire is KEY for Ron Paul. Imagine the amount of "free" advertising that a New Hampshire win will get!!! It will help the efforts of every other state's campaign. National is asking people to RSVP, but right I know we have about 150-200 people RSVPed in the Nashua and Concord meetup groups. WE NEED PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! Maine, Vermont, Mass, Connecticutt, ... whoever can make the trip. This is the time to demonstrate the organization of our grassroots effort. Even if you can only donate a few hours on Saturday or Sunday, every little bit helps. This event needs to be the focus of all meetup groups in the New England area. As we all know, we cannot depend on the MSM to get the word out without putting their own negative spin on things. This is our chance to control the true Ron Paul message of freedom and take it directly to the people. Please help us make this event a success.

2. Nationwide Rally

This weekend (Sept 29/30), is our last opportunity to boost both the supporter base AND donations for the 3rd quarter. Based on feedback on my original post (below), it appears we have a go for a nationwide rally!

I know many access Daily Paul regularly, but perhaps not all. We need to spread the word as quickly as possible to ALL the meetup groups, so they have time to organize and execute.

The goal of this initiative is to get 100% participation in ALL meetup groups. Keep your plan as simple and cost-effective as possible. Some people really do have time and money constraints. We don't want to give anyone a reason not to participate.

Here is all that is required:

  1. Pick a day (Sept 29/30), time and venue.
  2. Notify ALL meetup members that they MUST attend (I know we're all volunteers, but EVERYONE must participate, to make this a smash success).
  3. Organize signs, banners, handouts, etc., for the event.
  4. Hold the event.

If we are successful with this initiative, we could significantly boost the supporter base by thousands and 3rd quarter contributions by tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The time is now!

3. Paint the Town Ron

For the event in the planning for this weekend, see: PAINT THE TOWN RON

-----Original Post-----

Have you ever noticed how many Ron Paul supporters attend rallies, when Ron Paul is present? Why not organize big events like that, even when Ron Paul is not in town?

The Ron Paul Revolution now spans over 700 cities. Imagine if once every 2 weeks, in all 700+ cities, a major gathering was organized by the meetups where ALL Ron Paul supporters attended. People are curious by nature, so when they see these large gatherings of people (several hundred, in the big cities!!), they will want to know what is going on. The events would perpetually generate more and more supporters and thus get bigger and bigger each time, until everyone in town knows who Ron Paul is.

One of the keys to success is to find venues that generate the maximum amount of exposure. Some examples may be:

  • College campuses
  • City centers
  • Sporting events
  • Music concerts
  • Art festivals
  • Parks
  • Large shopping malls
  • ...

Since everyone is generally busy, these events could be limited to 2-3 hours. Who cannot spare 2-3 hours once every two weeks, for such an important cause like this? When will we have a chance to elect another president like Ron Paul? 100 years? 200 years? Just remember what Ron Paul is doing for his country and 2-3 hours will seem like the least EVERYONE else can do.

The gatherings do not have to be 2-3 hours of chanting. As Ron Paul said, people should have fun. So, perhaps some people could mix good music CDs (including some of the good Ron Paul songs) that could be played on a boombox at the events. It might also be nice to have a laptop or two available, to show passersby a video like "Ron Paul Courageously Speaks the Truth", so they can see how Ron Paul thinks and speaks.

In addition to the normal Ron Paul information giveaways, it might be nice to have candy or balloons to offer kids. Imagine offering candies that say "Sweet Liberty" on them, with a brief Ron Paul message, or a balloon with Ron Paul's name, image and ronpaul2008.com on it. Just something to think about.

Next Saturday (Sept 29) or Sunday (Sept 30) would be a good starting point. This will be the last opportunity for 3rd quarter contributions and many new people might be impressed enough to make such a contribution.

RALLY PROPOSAL SUMMARY:
Where: All 700+ meetup cities
When: Every 2 weeks, starting the weekend of Sept 29/30
Duration: 2-3 hours
Venue: To be decided by each meetup group
Who: ALL meetup group members (and invited guests)

I think this could turn the fire in to an inferno. What do you guys think?

C-SPAN

For those of you in New Hampshire yesterday.

Was C-Span filming the event?

Where is video?

What happened to the video that was posted showing today's speech in New Hampshire?

FOund it!

in 5 parts.
Dr. Paul's speech begins halfway through this one...

I was there

and it was great! Dr. Paul, his wife, kids, and grandkids were there and it was great to see the amount of support from such a diverse crowd. Granted, I expected more than amount that was present, but people started to really trickle in as the morning proceeded. I suspect, that the time was a bit early for too many people. I could have brought several classmates with me from Concord, but Friday nights are long for many of them and they tend to wake up late on Saturdays. Regardless, it was great to hear Ron Paul and support him afterwards by going around the Manchester area for literature drops (spread the revolution!). Tomorrow, Sunday, Rand Paul will be at the steps of the state house at 12:30pm. Please join us if you can and spread the revolution in Concord!

I wish

I wish someone up in New Hampshire would let us know how things are going up there today.

Remember to take a photo

Remember to take a photo of your meetup group this weekend, so a slideshow video can be made to commemorate this event.

Watch for a separate post on Daily Paul, after this weekend, for the location to upload your photo.

Write to your local papers!

Everybody participating in this weekends paint the town ron event should write a letter to their local paper and their largest local media source. With all the requests they'll be getting, they'll have to write at least an explanation of who Ron Paul is and why his name is everywhere. Best case scenario hes on some major news channels in large cities and in the paper in every small town. People go to work on Monday, they see "Ron Paul Revolution" a few dozen times, they come home and see some news coverage and wake up the next day to even more news about it in the local paper as well as likely stirring up discussion with the friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Excellent idea!

Excellent idea! That would give this event even more momentum.

IMPORTANT!! PLEASE READ!!

Guys,

I see a lot of plans to do "things from a distance" from the people (sign waving, putting Slim Jims on cars, etc.). This weekend, we need to get in the MIDDLE of the people (shopping malls, festivals, campuses, parks, airports,...). Get EVERYONE in your meetup group out in a high traffic area (people traffic, not car traffic) and you will attract LOTS of attention. People will likely come over to see what is going on, instead of you having to chase them.

We need IMMEDIATE results (i.e. the same weekend). This includes increasing donations, informing people how to vote in the primaries, etc. Again, each group can do what they want, but I STRONGLY recommend doing the "things from a distance" activates another time. If you read my original post, the primary goal, for this event, is to have big rallies in high traffic areas in every city across the country. If you can do both, all the better.

If you have not done so already, start organizing your rally NOW!. And take at least one still photo of your rally, so we can create a slideshow of all the rallies afterwards, to commemorate the event.

This weekend, we need to get

This weekend, we need to get in the MIDDLE of the people...[do] the "things from a distance" activities another time.

Agreed.

Each activity should probably include the following things:
- At least one video player (cellphone, portable dvd, laptop, tv, projector, etc) with an intro video. Personally, I prefer "A Man for All Seasons"
- A cheap "teaser" handout. Bonus points if the teaser encourages them to watch the video in person or online. (I don't think it's sufficient to point them to youtube. There are too many unpolished videos that might not persuade them)

Ron Paul - Here's your breakout chance

Fresh off the Democratic debate last night - NO Demomcrat will "committ" to immediate troop withdrawal. That's right, NO Democrat. And guess what, NO Republican will either. That creates a spotlight for someone to step into - and we know who that someone is!

In tonights PBS, make it CLEARLY known that you do COMMITT to immediate withdrawals - as you said - "just bring them home".

You'll have the spotlight on you. You'll be saying something NO other candidate is saying.

Who do you think the 70% of Americans that favor immediate withdrawal will support. If our next President did nothing other than end this debacle in Iraq, immediately, we as Nation would be well served. That just tells me that Bush was hellbent on his war......do I smell treason?

Fresh News - There is a report out today that Saddam offered to voluntarily step down for cash......$1B, but hey, we're spending that every week over there now. And we've destroyed Iraq's infrastructure to boot!

Good point on PBS

The Region/NW Indiana Meetup

My group is organizing a 2 prong political attack. The 29th, we "paint the town Ron" The 30th, we blitz the town with our Slim Jims. Target: Church parking lots, Hotel Parking lots, any parking lot we can find and any place we can find to put up or post the slim Jims. If your in Lake County Indiana, the time is now, Join us in our Ron Paul Revolution!

Hoosiers Love Ron Paul

Great to read about your Lake County Group. Fantastic job you are doing up there, I hope you post a vid or two. Below is our INDY groups next event.

INDY Meetup Group to raise $1,000.00 for the national campaign. Flea Market 4 Freedom October 5,6,7 at the Indiana State Fair grounds. This is a Four fold event.
1.) Raise $1,000.00 for the national campaign. 2.) Share the Ron Paul message.
3.) Encourage participation of our 250+ (and growing) member organization.
4.) And have fun as Dr. Paul asks, which we always do.

Statement of Faith

You may wish to have copies of his "statement of faith" on hand when you're at churches.

Still photos

I am sure many groups will be producing videos. However, if at least one still photo is taken of each meetup group nationwide, we could create a slideshow video, to commemorate the whole event. Just an idea.

DFW sign wave

among other things, the Plano TX meetup is hosting a sign wave at a VERY busy intersection. The plano group has been on the side of 75 weekly for the last month. This will be more personal and we hope to have more people show up than for any other sign wave in the DFW area yet.

On that note, the DFW area meetups are working on the TEXAS/OU game WITH Austin and OKC meetup groups. We should have an aerial banner flying over the game.

We have many other things planned and enough events to fill our calender for every day of the week.

Key objectives

In my opinion, the key objectives for this weekend's nationwide event are to:
1. get the message out about Ron Paul.
2. increase the supporter base,
3. increase donations, as much as possible, by the end of the quarter (Sept 30).
4. get potential voters registered (or at least give them the form), so they can vote in the primaries. Some deadlines in some states are in a matter of days.
5. get every member of every meetup group active.

Sign waving is good, but the results are likely to lag beyond the donation and voter registration deadlines. It's up to each group but, for this weekend specifically, I would suggest a high-traffic public place where there is a lot of face-to-face interaction.

Bakersfield CA Meetup 219 is IN!

Bakersfield CA Meetup Group 219 is holding events across the town for Ron Paul. We will be placing banners along Freeway 99 and others. We will also be placing pictures of Dr. Paul on hundreds of telephone polls. In two weeks we will be holding registration rallies at 3 college campuses in Kern County while handing out Ron Paul information!

Good luck to the rest!

Awesome

Wow, that's awesome, folks.

Deerfield Fair

I would also recommend bringing signs and wearing T-Shirts to the Deerfield Fair, perhaps the largest state far in New England. It's just a 20 minute drive from Manchester. I know I am.

www.deerfieldfair.com

Deerfield

Jason -- I hope you will consider working for us at the booth at the Deerfield Fair.
If so please email me and I'll give you the details!
PS - just so you know, they may not allow polticking anywhere but from behind the booth table...at least that's how it's been at most other booths I've worked at.

100% participation; the KISS principle

The key goal of next weekend's nationwide event should be to get EVERYONE involved. That means ALL members in ALL 700+ cities (which include small villages with 5 supporters and big cities with 800 supporters).

We will need substantial face-to-face interaction, to increase donations by Sept 30 (the end of the 3rd quarter). As noted in another comment, we should also distribute voter registration forms, so the new people we meet can get registered in time to vote in the primaries.

The way this is achieved is up to each meetup group, but I suggest we follow the KISS principle: tell everyone where, when and how long. If it is limited to 2-3 hours, no one should have a reason not to participate.

Its on this weekend!!!

We have 5 cars going out, 100+ yard signs and 60 banners. We are also going to put pushcards in our neighborhood newspaper boxes on Saturday night.

Mississippi Gulfcoast Meetup

I'll top that

In Pensacola, we have 9 cars, and 500+ signs going out on Saturday.

This quarter's numbers

Ron's fundraising team seems pretty upbeat about this quarter's numbers. Anyone hear anything concrete on where we're standing?

Loose Lips

No, they are pretty tight lipped about that... when I asked leading questions of $5M? 10M? 20M? I was told that fundraising is "going well, but they need more NOW" ... and "not to set my expectations TOO high."

Exactly what that means? Who knows. Definitely more and better than 2nd Quarter, but whether we will see a 15%, 50% or 100% increase from that who knows.

I get a sense of purposefully-subdued and stifled underlying "excitement," and also think (pure supposition on my part) that they may be pressing for higher numbers in 3Q but also a hidden fear that if the result is TOO good, then 4Q donations may drop off (from a false sense of security) -- or maybe that will energize it more, and "release" the floodgates on the doubting Thomases?

Who is to say, really. Just have to be patient.

Movie Reviews - Word-of-mouth

When I managed movie theatres, it was obvious that marketing is about managing expectation. You can have the same movie generate these two comments: "It was better than I expected." and "It was disappointing."

For the movie to continue into the next week, you want the former review, not the latter. And that is controlled by managing expectation.

With that in mind, I think he's doing very poorly and we better send him some more money right now to avoid being embarrassed.

IMissLiberty

I can add one thing...

In speaking with one of the guy connected with the software and systems that "keeping track of the money & donors" (can't identify him better than that, as I don't want to get him in trouble -- besides, he really didn't give anything away) -- but he was saying they apparently needed a new database because the old one did not have enough room for the high volume of records on all of the donors. (And the software vendors said: "You need to track HOW MANY RECORDS? Are you sure you didn't move the decimal point?")

So that tells me that Dr. Paul's donations are STILL mainly coming from small-donors with $25, $50 and $100 donations (hence the number of donors compared to typical campaigns is a quadratic, rather than a linear function).

To me THAT is even BETTER NEWS than the total dollar volume.

And now that I think about it, THAT should probably be one of the things they emphasize at the FEC record release -- it's one thing to raise more $ than someone like John McCain -- it's another thing entirely if it is in smaller $ amounts and from say 10 or 20 times as many donors. THAT is widespread support. (As opposed to JulieAnnie having to visit the London ExPat Bankers for his funding -- which proves that Rudy's U.S. support is near zilch or already tapped out.)

Great Ron Paul Shirts for this rally!

Hey Guys! Already in my area's meetup group and WILL be there.

Just reviewed some awesome new Ron Paul wear on my blog. They have some Lebowski themed ones, and some really great Paul Quotes. Check it out. Great stuff for Rally's and attending Debates.

Also you can visit the store directly if you wish.

I think this idea would work well alongside

of the PaintTheTownRon events: http://www.infiniteronpau...

Imagine someone seeing all those banners and then when they grab breakfast seeing RonPaul issue stickers on their restaurant menus... or napkin holders, or... well, everywhere.

For people who can't make BIG banners... maybe they can put up little "micro-sized" billboards?

STICKERS

One of our younger members was so happy about the stickers he had bought. He went all over town putting them up. The police caught him and made him backtrack and scrap every one off. Bummer, but he stayed in good spirits and followed orders. If you are going to break the law or infringe on another's property, you might have to pay the piper. Have a good time and keep on going on for RON PAUL. MUCH ALOHA

REMOVABLE Labels (Like Post-It Notes) -- not "stickers"

Obviously you didn't visit the site I linked to: If you had, you would know that:

1) The site does NOT sell preprinted stickers -- it is just a source FREE *.pdf file downloads with RP issues -- for users to print on their own removable-label sheets.(Ergo, the "stickers" your young friend bought were purchased somewhere else).

2) The site STRONGLY and REPEATEDLY advocates that people only use REMOVABLE stickers (the ones with adhesive similar to that of "Post-It" notes -- whose adhesive leaves no residue).

3) The site fully expects and prescribes that users should respect private AND public property to the greatest degree possible while still using the labels effectively for building name and issue recognition -- and not to use the labels in any way that may cause damage or harm. While a main emphasis on the REMOVABLE aspect is to allow people to take them home like a small "handout", in addition the removable nature of the labels effectively reduces any irritation by people having to remove them.

4) The site has only been up for a week, so it is highly unlikely that your young friend got any of his ideas from it. (If he had, he would have been cautioned as well -- and even if he chose to ignore that advice, but used the removable labels instead of his "stickers", then his job of taking them down would certainly have been much, much easier.)

Note that APPROPRIATE use of "guerilla marketing" with such NON-DAMAGING removable labels can be quite effective. Similar campaigns have been used by commercial advertising agencies for years -- and often with much larger "labels" (some essentially poster sized).

But in the end, the website can only advise -- people are independent, and will do as they choose, and they must accept the responsibility for their actions and choices. (Having had to remove the old-style paper-with-permanent adhesive "bumper stickers" from a variety of inappropriate vehicles and objects, IMHO often in a much worse or offensive fashion than the small removable labels.)

One learns to understand that such abuse is as possible with virtually ANY and ALL campaign materials -- I know of people who have ignorantly [and illegally] gone from house to house putting campaign flyers in people's mailboxes, a definite campaigning no-no; and more frequently others (typically local campaigns) who go about town placing yard signs onto multiple private properties without ever asking anyone's permission, another definite no-no that is more likely to LOSE a vote than gain one.)

Crossing the Line

Please don't cross the line into vandalism. Don't destroy private property or cause taxpayers to foot the bill to clean up public property.

IMissLiberty

No one is advocating vandalism.

From my understanding, the groups having already done the PaintTheTownRon campaign (Memphis, Jacksonville, etc) take pretty good care to attach their signs and banners in fairly easy to remove fashion.

And alas, as taxpayers, we already "foot the bill" for many less-valuable campaign related expenses -- whether it is the extra police overtime any one of the "Big" candidates arrive in town, or the fuel-bill for Air Force One every single time the pResident makes a "Public Relations" visit to Iraq ...or the hundreds of visits to stateside cities, and also (incidentally) just "happens" to attend and speak at one of his/her party's local $1,000 per plate fundraisers.

#0 - Print out or get

#0 - Print out or get hundreds of voter registration forms from your elections/secretary of state's office.

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO, especially true if you are in a closed primary state. Ron Paul is running for the nomination of the Republican party, we need real world voters to vote for him in the primary.

Nationwide Rally - Paint The Town Ron

Great idea to have meetup meetings every two weeks. As we near the primary season it's important to take advantage of the limited time we have left.
Hopefully, many of our dedicated Ron Paul Supporters will be participating in the Nationwide "Paint The Town Ron" next weekend.

Here in the Bay Area, we're making extra banners this afternoon to prepare for the event. We're using rolls of white Tyvek paper (available in 3' x 100' rolls at Home Depot for $60) and spray paint to make extra banners for everyone.

To learn more about the event go to the web site here: http://www.paintthetownro...

Please check with your local Meetup group for times and details.

More generalized website

Hi westwave99

The website looks great! However, If we want to use it as the main website for these major bi-weekly rallies, it probably should be generalize a bit more.

- Some meetup groups may want to hang signs and banners everywhere,
- Some meetup groups may want to meet at a specific location for a rally.
- Some meetup groups may want to march down a busy street in the center of town.
- Some meetup groups may want to do all of the above or something else entirely different.

Each meetup group should be creative and do whatever they can with the number of people, time and money they have available. To me, 5 people with hand painted signs in a small village is as big a contribution to this effort as 500 people in a large rally in a big city. Ron Paul's message needs to be spread everywhere, in every way possible. The fun thing about this initiative is that, every 2 weeks, we do it together as a nation.

Sringfield MO meet-up is going to participate

We have made 200 signs and they will be hung by the end of the month we will be calling all the news stations and asking who is "Ron Paul", "Whats the revolution", and "What are all these revolution signs about". We are also wanting to show video's at the local collage it has a theater you can rent. I agree all meet-up groups should do something on the weekend of the 29th Lets paint this nation Ron folks.

HA HA HA Just found out Mitt Romney is coming to Springfield MO on oct 1st at 11:30 to meet his supporters. HEHEHE guess what will be waiting for him. !!!!!!!!!BANNERRAMMA!!!!!!!!!. I love it. We have 200 signs made. LOL! That is just too good.

Wow! Excellent job getting a

Wow! Excellent job getting a website up!

I'm sure each meetup will come up with their own spin on how to do this, but the most important objectives in my mind are:

1. Participation by ALL meetup groups (700+). We are everywhere in the nation. We need to leverage that.
2. Participation by ALL members in all meetup groups (roughly 47,000 people). I noticed some large meetup groups with low participation in many of their events. We need EVERYONE to be active for these major events.
3. Simple and cost-effective, to accommodate those with time and money constraints.
4. Face-to-face interaction with potential supporters.

One of the videos that inspired my thoughts on this is "Let Freedom Ring". Just seeing the sheer number of supporters together makes you realize how big the movement actually is. That is the feeling I would like to see spread across the country.

Anyway, we can keep throwing around ideas on this.

good thinking; I was already thinking about something similar

After the success of our first, rather slapdash Visiblast in Seattle (and I will take all the blame for the slapdash aspect of it; we'll do better next time!), it occurred to me that we should do a similar thing in every town. Why not send out the rallying cry to gather here, there, everywhere, one place at a time, to REALLY raise the visibility level for Ron Paul in that town on that day? It's fun and I think it's pretty effective too. We own the ground, so let's start showing it!

Whether it's a rally or a Visiblast or maybe even both, there's no denying that 30 people makes a lot bigger impression than 5, and 200 people makes a lot bigger impression than 30, and.........

=-=-=-=-=
Get active NOW to put Ron in the general election. ronpaul.meetup.com

Great Idea!

The big city groups could work together!
We could make a "Ron Paul" day of it.
Everyone from Seattle and surrounding areas could take the train from Seattle to Portland. "The Ron Paul train"! The train would stop on the way down to Portland to pick up more supporters! Then have a Rally in Portland and sign waving and then back on the train and back to Seattle.

2 weeks latter The Portland crowd loads up on the train and heads for Seattle, with stops in Vancouver, Centralia Tacoma and Rally in Seattle! Wave some signs and back in the train and home again! I think it would be a lot of fun and make a statement at the same time! We could work with a travel agent to rent us a conference room to Rally and get us group train tickets and probably get a reasonable price if there are enough of us!

We could probally get a train from Spokane to Seattle lined up for the Seattle rally? Maybe Vancouver Canada, and Bellingham would get involved also?

Yes!

Great idea, forever4now!

It's definitely important that we parade with Dr. Paul every time he sets foot in public, but it's even more important that we have regular shows of force when he's not around.

Some general thoughts:
- All meetup groups should be meeting at least twice a month. At least. Ours meets every Sunday afternoon.
- Not all of the efforts should be public displays. You want to be out there enough that everyone notices, but not so often that people start thinking, "Yeah, yeah, we heard ya. Now go away."
- Our group was given access to the voter registration database, so we're able to specifically target likely voters. Not glamorous, but very efficient.

Some thoughts about your idea:
- On any given "Rally Day", there should be at least a few dozen groups that coordinate their efforts. The goal being to get the press to say something like "And Ron Paul supporters were out in force today. They organized rallies in 300 cities across the country, including one outside every NFL game."

Then we can do something like target the 20 largest city halls at the next rally, followed by every capitol building at the third. Anything to put a slightly different spin on it each time.

forever4now, if we can get a few others to volunteer, we can start coordinating this tomorrow.

Events

Well, I've tried to do this since June at every event I can think of.

Football season is coming up, so tailgating is a perfect place for this.

Tailgating

That's awesome, Jane. I rarely attend football games (the Lions aren't worth following), so I'd love to have your advice on strategic matters. Are you up for this?

Dirk,

Yeah, I hear those flyovers have been quite a hit. I lean towards activities that are high labor/low cash, though. I think most of the cash we can spare should go to the campaign so they can do bulk buys of literature and media. For example, our group has been passing out a ton of slim jims to registered voters. That's the kind of think that can really leverage our manpower, because the slim jims only cost a few pennies a piece, yet the equivalent postage would be another $0.41.

Football!

Football is perfect for this! And we need to rent more of those planes that fly around and say 'Ron Paul for President' at the NFL games, too!

Thanks for thinking big!

You are a genius! This is the most efficient use of time promoting a candidate that I have ever seen.

Besides, Americans like things big. This is a way to super-size meetup demonstrations.

Among other things, I can see miles and miles of Ron Paul supporters lining the major highways across the nation!

Thanks for such a great idea! We’ll be talking about this at our next meetup.
