Saint Paul

Yesterday I watched a movie about Saint Paul and the beginnings of Christianity.

It was on the History Channel and it showed actual video of a small early Christan city of interconnected tunnels, houses, buildings and temples, going all the way down to the water table, and entirely underground, carved out of stone!

It said that Saint Paul began life as an elite and wealthy Jew named Saul. He converted to Christianity and changed his name to Paul. Paul was responsible for the survival and spread of Christianity from only 100 supporters, to spreading the word throughout the Roman Empire, teaching people of all religions and beliefs about Christianity. It's said that he walked 20,000 miles throughout the Empire spreading the word.

Of course, he was a threat to authority and the Romans later blamed him for Christian revolts and had him beheaded. Because he was a Roman citizen he had the right to a beheading rather than the normal stoning or crucifixion.

The parallels between Dr. Paul really struck me as uncanny, not only because of the name, but because he was traveling the Roman Empire spreading the word of peace and the evils of corruption, even though he was a Roman citizen (Republican).

I'm not very religious, so this really took me by surprise!

Saint Paul also wrote that money is the root of all evil and leads to corruption!

And, now, in the 2000th anniversary of Saint Paul's birth, we have Ron Paul attacking the Federal Reserve and spreading the word of Freedom across America as a Republican in the neo-conservative Empire. I hope there is not a true revolt and he's executed or blamed for it.
