I called the National FBI number who told me to call the local Indiana FBI office. So I called Indi FBI and she said all calls regarding Liberty Dollar go to a spokeswoman for the US Attorney in Charlotte, NC. So I called Sue Ellen Pierce at 704-338-3120 and got her voice mail so I left a message. I'll let you know if I hear something back.

Day II - FBI Raid on the Liberty Dollar

----- Original Message -----
From: Liberty Dollar
Sent: Friday, November 16, 2007 12:33 PM
Subject: Day II – FBI Raid on the Liberty Dollar

Friday, November 16, 2007: Make no mistake, the FBI and Secret Service raid on he Liberty Dollar at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, was a direct assault against the US Constitution and your right to own and use gold and silver in any way you chose.

I personally spoke to FBI agent Andrew Romagnuolo shortly after he and his gang invaded the peaceful home of the Liberty Dollar. He told me that the raid was related to the US Mint's warning and the beginning of a criminal investigation. This is the first battle of a long war that I intend to win!
Please note the Search Warrant, Seizure Warrant and Agent info is now posted. Click HERE for that info. If that link does not work the URL is: http://www.libertydollar.....

Also posted is the correspondence between US Senator Bill Nelson of Florida and Edmond C Moy, Director of the US Mint. Of particular interest is Moy's statement that the! paper Certificates are not covered by the Title 18, Section 486 and hence legal. So there was no need to raid Sunshine Mint and confiscate all the gold and silver that backs the paper and digital currencies.
No need, unless the government knew their 486 case didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning and needed to expand their case into the never-never land of mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering as mentioned in the Seizure Warrant. I anticipate being arrested on any one or all of these charges.

But I see my arrest and trial as a golden opportunity to win and return our great country to a value based currency. I sincerely believe that the right creative marketer could orchestrate an effective counter attack and win big. I believe the Liberty Dollar will win and become one of the great institutions in America. I have devoted the past ten year to the Liberty Dollar and am willing to risk a few years in federal prison to vindicate it. Winni! ng is certainly possible, even probable with your help.
Wi! nning wi ll require good, dedicated legal support and your support. First, if you are angry and resent the government's assault on your right to own and use gold as you please then call the agents and express your displeasure of their actions in a polite way. Don't kill the messenger, just tell them they are wrong. Add your voice to this movement.

Second: If you are owed an order and want to get your money back or have paper certificates or digital Liberty Dollars, I urge you to demand redemption or the return of your money by joining the Class Action Lawsuit. Your participation is absolutely critical. If you don't join the CAL you will not get your money back. Please click HERE to sign up for the Class Action Lawsuit. If that link does not work, the URL is: http://www.libertydollar.....
Third: A Legal Defense Fund will be established very soon. Its purpose is to win the cr! iminal case and get your money back. It will take money to make it successful. So your contribution is also critical. Please don't let the government steal your money.

So if you have an existing order, want to redeem your paper Certificates or digital Liberty Dollars, please join the fight to defend our right to own and use gold as you so chose and sign up for the Class Action Lawsuit. This is the
only way you will get your stolen property back.
If you have no standing and want to finally get involved, no problem. There is still $20 million Liberty Dollars in circulation. Simply get some paper Liberty Dollars and sign up for the Class Action Lawsuit. There is still time for all the thick-headed Lewrockwellites, Markskousenites, Dougcaseyites and Agoraites to pull your head out and get 'right' on this important issue.

I regret to inform you that the Liberty Dollar office is now closed. The government boys took everything except for t! he desks and chairs. We have no stock, no records, no money. I! can' ;t even change the phone message because they took the phone manuals. Nor can I answer the thousands of email and calls from a national organization that now numbers into the hundreds of thousands. I am the last man standing. I need your help.
Thank you for your many offers of help. Now is the time for us to help our selves and our great country as it faces the greatest monetary challenge since the Revolutionary War. Buying gold and silver is good for you, but it will not solve our country's problems.

Government requires participation. The problems we have today are because our parents did not participate. Please keep using the Liberty Dollar. Keep the ideals and benefits of real money alive. Gold and silver is going to be very rewarding as the US dollar disintegrates. Please join the Class Action Lawsuit and give something to the Legal Defense Fund when it is established.
But you don't have to wait. Donations can be sent to the old address as the ma! il is now being forwarded. Of course we will still accept Liberty Dollars, but unfortunately due to the current situation, the attorneys require those dreaded depreciating US dollars.

Please make your check or money order out to me as there is no other bank account and mail it to: Liberty Dollar, 225 N. Stockwell Road. Evansville. Indiana. 47715.
Now is the time to band together and support our fight for value based currency as never before. Now is the time to throw off the yoke of a manipulated monetary/tax system and generate a peaceful and prosperous society.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your offer of help, prayers and support.

The Liberty Dollar and our great country sincerely needs your support.
God bless you and our great country!

The Street

Read what the street . com has to say about this. I don't have any of these dollars, but I wish I did. They sold for $25 - $5 going to the Ron Paul Campaign. They are selling today for $220 on e-bay!

interesting article and video

http://www.thestreet.com/...

Obviously you can legally possess them but can you barter medallions or not??

Liberty Dollar Promoters are idiots. Stay away from them!

>>We have no money. We have no products. We have no records to even >>know what was ordered or what you are owed.

So let me get this straight. We have a corporation that is responsible for millions of dollars of funds. Unshipped orders to customers as well as silver reserves for a paper currency. Their opponents are a massively powerful federal reserve and bunch of very angry politicians because of the ongoing WANTA Scandal.

Then they decide to use Dr Ron Paul's image to sell their idea and "piggyback" on his publicity. That really pissed off the PTB.

So they get whacked.

Then they tell the world that they are so negligent and incompetent that they have NO OFFLINE BACKUPS and NO HARD COPY DVD BACKUPS.

In addition they must keep all the silver reserves under their mattress. They were too brain dead to diversify their reserves in Switzerland, Australia or Singapore. Or some other country that has safe keeping for precious metals. Like why not have reserves in 20 or 30 Swiss accounts?

The question is :"Who is this Einstein and why does he think he can run a currency exchange?"

The only class action lawsuit should be against an amateur money changer whose ineptitude just cost a lot of patriots a lot of money.

We won't even talk about the premium they charge over the melt value for their "coins"

Stay away from money scammers. Keep up with the prices at Kitco and shop around for the best deals on your coins. Try the Coin World newspaper. That is the one the dealers themselves use.

Michael Relfe

That's right, we're idiots

So stupid was Mr von NotHaus that he elected to open his safe for the armed thugs who showed up Wednesday morning rather than get himself shot and his store blown up for resisting our Fe'ral Masters.

The nice thing about blaming the victims is that their power to resist or retaliate has been compromised. It's a fairly safe tactic indeed to kick a man when he's down, isn't it?

Wow

Ron Paul is gold right now. No wonder everyone of the mainstream candidates and their supporters are scared.

This thing is growing daily and price spikes like that are one further example.

I just wish they had

shipped my copper Ron Paul dollars before the seizure. Oh well, the way things are going, I will be able to make up my loss of those coins by the escalating price on the silver coins I already have.

3 days

yeah, i wish they would of shipped all of them out. they had three days to do so. and they knew the copper dollars were coming in for a month or two ahead of time.

a few people working hard for those couple of days could of got them out. i am sad i will probably never see mine and if i do it will probably be to late to hand them out.

ron paul 2008

Still think this is a diversion and a trap

And a lot of earnest RP supporters are falling right into it.

It's a very effective way to divide a movement. Cause dissension within its ranks, and argue about things that don't really matter. You're not doing Ron Paul or his campaign any favors.

Who is divided? Who is

Who is divided?
Who is dissenting?
who at all ever agrees with you besides devilsadvocate?
If you 2 hate it so much why do you keep posting on the threads relating to it?

Profit?

I do not think they made much profit. To pay $20.00 for a pure silver medallion that weighs one troy ounce is a great deal. Many award medallion makers charge 50.00 to 75.00 or more for such a medallion, and sometimes those are sterling instead of pure silver.

Considering that a lump of unformed silver weighing one troy ounce is right now around $14.00 to 15.00 (or perhaps a little more due to inflation), to pay 5 or 6 dollars for a minting process is not at all bad.

The Founders of this great nation abhorred tyrrany and loved liberty. The power of the King to wage war, tax and abuse the personal rights of the American colonists drove them to rebel, win a revolution, and codify their convictions in a new Constitution.

Gold Coins- This is a email I recieved

For Crying Out Loud!

The Sheer Volume of Ignorance being expressed in the Blog-us-fear
and various internet groups concerning the issue of the recent raid
involving the so-called ron paul "dollars" is Staggering!

It is quite obvious that Most do not, or simply cannot comprehend
the Magnitude of just how far up Sh*t Creek Mr. "Monetary Architect"
and the willing, albeit perhaps naive passengers in his Canoe, ARE.

And without a paddle no less!

ANYONE with a modicum of Common Sense can plainly SEE the Clear
Violation of Law committed by NotHaus et al.

The Law is Explicit concerning the USE of RESTRICTED Insignias,
Markings, Designations and/or Certain Words used in conjunction with
Metal coins, discs, medallions, etc.

IGNORANCE OF COUNTERFEITING LAWS As a Viable Defense?

YEAH RIGHT! DREAM ON!

And Now the Sheer Volume of Those who fancy themselves as "Patriots"
SO eager to flaunt Their Ignorance by vilifying the Secret Service
and F.B.I. when same miraculously manage to get IT Right every Now &
Again!

GEE, Never Mind the MAJOR Detail that the Secret Service & F.B.I.
actually DID have Legitimate Grounds & Authority to confiscate
Everything on the Premises!

Go Ahead and Give the Media the Excuse to Label "Patriots" as
A Bunch of Ignoramuses, Borderline Lunatics, & Nut Jobs!

The REAL Tragedy in this Event is the realization of just how far
this Country has fallen. When many cannot even distinguish
between "Legal Tender" and "Lawful Money" let alone recognize the
inherent pitfalls of a privateer's substitutes.

GEE, Does ANYONE Wonder if Mr. "Monetary Architect" NotHaus, is
losing any sleep over the fact that Those Whom he profited off,
hoped to profit off, and/or otherwise involved, could very likely be
Charged as an Accessory to a FELONY?

Or that even though Ron Paul urged his supporters to avoid these so-
called ron paul "dollars", this no doubt will give his Detractors &
the Media Plenty in their ongoing attempts to discredit him and his
Campaign?

I know you didnt write the email.
This is a response to it not you.

Who is the Goverment to tell me what I can consider to have value or not ?
1.there are many unjust laws, does that mean we shouldnt be outraged at them also.
2.The way the law reads that will be applied here could also be used against subway tokens, and arcade coins
3.Under the patriot act ,Americans can be impriosoned as enemy combatants for 3 years without charges, and with the passing of HR1955 just thinking is a crime that labels you as an enemy combatant.
Should we not fight these?
What is coming out here is the older folks think we should fight unjustices less while the younger ones are more eager to take back our freedom,It is the same older folks that have allowed the country to turn into the mess it is in,this happened on your watch ,you cant discourage us from changing it,for if we follow your lead ,our children will even be in a worse mess than we are now.

DROP THIS ISSUE ALSO... WORK ON DEC 16TH...

Quit spending all your time on this issue - ITS NON-PRODUCTIVE... concentrate your time and effort on emailing for Ron Paul organizations that might be sympathetic with his views like legalize marijuana sites... I doubt anyone has tapped into emailing them and they would make great Ron Paul supporters.... $100 for a lid when they can grow their own??
LOL I am sure they could donate to Ron Paul if you put it that way...

Fighting injustice in the

Fighting injustice in the pursuit of freedom is counter productive?
That attitude is just what has gotten our country into this mess..
Lemme guess Babyboomer or real close to it?
You and antiwardoc run in packs?
If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

No. Counter-Productive is *not* concentrating on something...

I dont disagree that this is an issue... however, what is more important or *productive* spending time on this issue, OR INSTEAD, concentraing on Dec 16th... where we can effect more change than bantering this topic back and forth....

As promoter of the 16th

As promoter of the 16th site,I can see why you want us to focus on the site. However that lacking of what is important is why I have yet to go to the site.
The fight for freedom will be fought on may fronts, your site is just a tool in the fight.
If you had any conviction we would not be reading your post here ,because you and antiwardoc would be off promoting the 16th somewhere.

i m glad to have the two of you on our side ,but telling us that what you believe is more important is "counter productive"
Let us take this one,and I thank you for taking the other front where it is needed.
If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

They ought to get these guys involved...

Can you all do me a big favor and remove "Ron Paul" from this?

What does he have to do with it?

Company that deals with precious metals - OK
"Liberty dollar" - OK

Why Ron Paul this, Ron Paul that? Ron Paul has nothing to do with any of this. When you keep referring to his name, it implies that he does.

You want us to hide the

You want us to hide the truth?
Coins with Pauls face.Kinda hard to remove his name from this, unless we get the coins back then deface them
If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

Ron Paul Coins were Confiscated

Because, among the coins that were confiscated were tons of gold, silver and copper coins with Ron Paul's face on them. They were just delivered to Liberty Dollar, and they were set to go out to thousands of customers who had ordered, and pre-ordered them - including me!

Was this politically motivated? You tell me. How great would it be to be able to flash around a beautiful one oz. solid gold piece with Ron Paul's face on it? Flash that around and you're sure to get people's attention:

Michael: "Hey look at this it is gold - it is real money."

Person: "Hey, wow that is pretty! And heavy! Wow - who is this guy on the coin?"

Michael: "Well, that is Ron Paul. He's running for president. He believes that all money should be gold or backed by gold..."

How would you like to have that kind of intro when talking to people?

Wouldn't shock me

We also purchased some Liberty dollars. In God's Providence, we just received our full order. Hope he will be able to fill your order soon. In the meantime, you can sign a class action suit at the website.

Because, Dr. Frankenstein...

something big has has been created. Ron Paul is only the figure head for this movement.

Even if Ron Paul isn't elected a connection has been created between like-minded individuals who all believe in Ron Paul's message more than the election of a single man.

Simply, Ron Paul is the great gardener who has planted the seed for the Liberty Tree. But now that the seed has been planted the tree has taken on a life of its own.

And this: http://www.libertydollar....

Seeing the Feds raid this kind of implies a government desire to remove Ron Paul's visage from public circulation.

well put guerrilla man...

Yes, this movement will not be going away soon, if ever. Ron Paul I think will probably have inspired a whole new breed of politicians who will be committed to returning to our roots.

Ron Paul is the spark that once again lit the torch of liberty. we must keep passing the torch generations on down to ensure a vigilant populace!

+1 Liberty is the goal. Ron

+1
Liberty is the goal.
Ron Paul is a means to an end

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

Exactly, One day

Liberty will be restored in America. We will have wise and honorable men respecting law, in thought and deed , running the country, and we will have several Gold Dollars with Ron Paul on it.

well, there are legal and illegal ways to go about change.

The goal is a gold or hard asset backed currency. Ron Paul is for this.
He has even suggested floating an alternative gold-backed currency to compete with Federal Reserve notes. But he has NOT said that anybody with a printing press and gold garage should be able to go out there and start printing up their own banknotes that look like official currency. And he has not given them permission, as far as I know, to put his picture on them.

So Van NotHausen or whoever, appears to admire Paul, and without his consent, has put Paul's pics on his "money". What NORFED has done may or may not be against the law. That's for the courts to decide. But this particular fight is not Paul's fight, and it's not my fight as a Paul supporter.

You are defining "this movement" as if it is all one thing, and are assuming that all of Paul's supporters support all the things that you support. This is juvenile, as is your name calling.

Paul's supporters believe in many different things. The common beliefs that bring us here are those put forth by Ron Paul. So I don't like to see his name being hijacked by this particular company.

So stop talking about "Ron Paul Liberty Dollars". Even though that's what the owner of this company has named them. This action by the FBI has nothing to do with Ron Paul, unless (and this may be true), it is a calculated effort to embarrass him by linking him to activity that may be at the fringes of the law.

The "dollars" may not be fed-issued

but I think a lot of people sympathize with the desire to have our money free from fed and federal government manipulation. And I think a lot of people are disturbed by the extremely high-handed way in which the FBI just completely ruined the guy, apparently with no warning whatsoever, after several years of tacit approval, meaning there was a judge who ruled he was breaking no law. Maybe the guy did get a little cute in his "coin" designs, but it wasn't like he was putting a gun to people's head and forcing them to use them--that's what the government does.

From the description, the paper notes looked nothing like Federal Reserve Notes and were completely redeemable in silver. And the "coins" weren't the worthless zinc and cut-copper junk the mints put out, but were all gold and silver. No Joe Blow is going to just chance across one of these and think they're U.S. money, and even if he does, the numismatic value of the precious metals in them is vastly larger than the nominal "dollar" value anyway, so he's not going to use them as "legal tender" either, unless he's a total moron. No reasonable government official could construe these as attempted counterfeiting, or otherwise debasing or diluting or doing anything else to official U.S. money. Most people see this as the government shutting down an attempt to protect the value of our money from government debasement--as well as protecting its income confiscation racket, since if people start exchanging goods using "coins" such as these in a barter system, then no more dollars come in for the IRS to confiscate.

Reasonable

"No reasonable government official could construe these as attempted counterfeiting, or otherwise debasing or diluting or doing anything else to official U.S. money."

I would say that no reasonable government official would construe a small crop of marijuana for personal, medical use as an attempt to alter the inter-state market of marijuana. Doesn't stop the DEA from ignoring state drug laws, though.

75%/25% it's real

I purchased "several" coins three weeks ago and the email I received this morning was from the same IP that sent me the confirmation on my order.

Me thinks it real. And that sucks.

The Ron Paul Liberty Dollar

http://www.libertydollar....

Comes in copper, silver, and gold.

Still don't know if the raid actually happened though.

However, the Feds may be right...

Section X.1: No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make any thing but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts; pass any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts, or grant any title of nobility.

Though, he's an individual and not a state entity. I'm sure the "Free Banking Period" will be brought up during the trial.

the criminal Feds had NO right

Like you said, the liberty dollar thing is a private company. Here is a great article about how the IRS was beaten in the courts. This guy was paying his employees with gold coins, and they were using the face value of the coins for their tax reports. Even though the gold he paid them was worth something like $114 million in total, none of them had to declare it because the face value was so low.

2 Tons???

Ok, now I know this is fake. 2 Tons is about $56 million dollars of coins. I find that hard to believe.

There were copper Ron Paul

There were copper Ron Paul liberty dollars as well. Copper is about $3.15/lb, so that would only be $12,600. It was probably a mix of gold, silver, and copper that were seized, but 2 tons is not an impossible amount.

your math is wrong. its only

your math is wrong. its only 4,000 pounds. Silver is very heavy. They do not say if it is measured in troy (12 troy ounces in a pound). Assuming the greater value of 16 ounces in a pound that would be 16 x 4000 ounces of silver if it was all silver.

64 thousand ounces times $15 dollars/ ounce ..

that would be approx 960,000 dollars which is realistic.

Sounds

very bogus to me.

It is confirmed. It is

Article from Evansville Courier & Press:
Liberty Dollar Office Raided
Staff report
Originally published 01:42 p.m.
November 15, 2007
The future of an Evansville-based company that produces a "private voluntary barter currency" known as the Liberty Dollar is in question after federal agents raided the facility this week, according to an e-mail sent by its founder.
Federal officials raided the group's headquarters, located in a strip mall at 225 N. Stockwell Road, early Wednesday morning and seized documents and all precious metals.
FBI Agent Wendy Osborne, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Indianapolis office, directed all questions on the raid to the Western District of North Carolina U.S. Attorney's Office. A spokeswoman there said she had no information on the investigation.
Bernard von NotHaus, the group's monetary architect and the author of the e-mail, did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment. Von NotHaus developed the Liberty Dollar in 1998 as an "inflation-proof" alternative currency to the U.S. Dollar, which he has claimed has devalued since the Federal Reserve was established in 1913. The silver medallions are produced by a private mint in Idaho on behalf of Evansville-based Liberty Services, which also issues paper notes which the group says are backed by silver reserves.
Liberty Dollar employees were at the office this morning cleaning up after the raid. They referred all questions to von NotHaus.
According to the e-mail, about a dozen agents arrived Wednesday morning and seized gold, silver, platinum and nearly two tons of recently delivered Ron Paul Dollars. They also took all the files, all the computers and froze the group's bank accounts, the e-mail said.
"We have no money. We have no products. We have no records to even know what was ordered or what you are owed," von NotHaus wrote in the e-mail, which was sent to Liberty Dollar customers. "We have nothing but the will to push forward and overcome this massive assault on our liberty and our right to have real money as
defined by the US Constitution. We should not to be defrauded by the fake government money."
The e-mail said the gold and silver that backs up the paper and digital currency was confiscated, as were the dies used to mint the Liberty Dollars themselves. As a result, it warns that recent orders placed for Liberty Dollars may not be filled and it encourages supporters to band together for a class action lawsuit.
The e-mail repeatedly defends the Liberty Dollar as legal.
"You did nothing wrong," von NotHaus wrote. "You are legally entitled to your property. Let us use this terrible act to band together and further our goal to return America to a value based currency."

Yes,the replies differed

All this email stated is that property was confiscated, and asks everyone who had invested but not received orders,to sign up for a lawsuit.
So,yes,the replies disagree.
A few have had bad experiences with this company, and some questioned the timing of the emails. In any case, one email and a few posts on this thread to *vouch* for the guy,do not make for a solid case.
Sorry, those Nigerian guys sure seem legit too when I get their emails.
In any case, the difference in opinions had more to do with what we,as supporters of Ron Paul's campaign, should do,if anything,in response.
And the original email did not ask for thousands of people to email the feds or anyone else on their behalf. who knows? we could hurt their case.
Has anyone checked snopes?
LOL-just kidding-i thought this thread needed a laugh. i've been checking it on and off all day.
